So I'm in the library about to take a Business Policy online test. Autumn and I have been talking about love, what it looks like in our life, what we learned about what it was growing up and how we struggle with it. The Holy Spirit brought to mind 1 Corinthians 13 which is typically heard all around the Christian world during wedding ceremonies...love is this and that....blah blah blah.
But I got to thinking about it and I hope you follow the train of thought I'm about to unleash.... 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 says this, Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insistent on its on way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. The rest of the chapter goes on to say that love never ends even though things of this earthly world will pass away.
1 John4:8 says: Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.
Ephesians 5:1-2 says: Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
I heard once that we should replace the word Love in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 with God so it would say God is patient and kind;....so on and so on. But I thought about it even further, that if God is love and is all these things; then why don't we go a step further and really examine our hearts and motives by putting our name in so that it says Ariann is patient and kind...
*DISCLAIMER* I AM NOT TRYING TO RE-WRITE THE BIBLE! I'm saying that if we are to be true imitators of God like it says in 1 John 4:8 then we should be all those things in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7.
Maybe you should check yo'self before you wreck yo'self...p.s. I'm in the same boat!
